SUSAN HEBEL WATTS

With over 30 years of experience in community development, Susan Watts will share her experience and background (a circuitous route) and local work on two new communities; Summers Corner and Spring Grove (East Edisto).
Prior to moving to Charleston, Susan served as the Executive Director of the Real Estate Center within the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She led the Center, teaching, advising MBA students, fundraising and running the Real Estate Council (a group of over 300 members within the real estate industry). Prior to her academic period, Susan worked in Florida during the real estate boom for twenty years and in Arizona and California. Her various roles included acquisition, entitlements, planning/design, sales, marketing, country clubs, homeowners associations, public-private ventures and joint ventures. Susan has been involved with the launch of thirteen new communities, ranging in size from 950 to 5,000 acres.
Susan participates in ULI at the national level and has served in leadership roles on ULI’s Sustainable Development Council and Community Development Councils. She presently serves on the Board of the S.C. Community Loan Fund and Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce – Infrastructure Visioning Task Force.
